Detectives are continuing to appeal for information following the death of a man after a road traffic collision in Kirkby last week (Thursday 27 July).
Officers received a report of a collision involving a blue Ford Focus and a white Honda motorcycle that happened between 8:35pm and 8:45pm on the St Helens bound carriageway of the East Lancashire Road at the junction with Coopers Lane.
A 39-year-old man sadly died in hospital as a result of his injuries on Tuesday 1 August. The man’s next of kin have been informed and his family are being supported by specially trained officers.
We are continuing to appeal for any witnesses who may be able to assist in providing information to enable us to establish the full circumstances of this incident.
We are especially keen to speak with the drivers of the following vehicles who have been identified as being in the area at the time of the collision. A black Mercedes Vito or V class displaying a private hire badge at the rear, that was travelling towards Liverpool. The other vehicles were travelling towards St Helens, and were a pale blue Ford Focus, a silver Toyota Yaris, and a black or dark grey Seat Altea.
Detective Sergeant Andy Roper from the Matrix Serious Collision Investigation Unit said, “Our sincere thoughts and condolences are with the family of the man who sadly died following this tragic incident. Specially trained Family Liaison Officers are supporting them at this time.
“I appeal to anyone who was travelling on either side of the East Lancashire Road in that area between 8:35pm and 8:45pm on Thursday 27th July, or anyone who has dash camera CCTV in their car, to make contact with our team. We can check if any footage will have captured the build up to this collision or the collision itself.
"Additionally, if you were driving in this area and witnessed any part of this incident, I would be grateful if you could please get in touch. Any information you can provide may be vital in our investigation to fully establish what has happened."
