Operation Castle: Two men charged with burglary offences

Two men have this week been charged with burglary offences following two separate incidents in Liverpool and Wirral, which were investigated by detectives from Operation Castle.

On Monday 28 August during the early hours of the morning, it was reported that a home had been broken into on Chamberlain Street, in Poulton, where a games console and two Kindle tablets were stolen.

When officers attended the home, the suspect was sighted nearby and arrested on suspicion of burglary.

Kevin Randle, 60, of Chamberlain Street, Poulton, was subsequently charged with burglary and has been remanded to appear at Liverpool, Knowsley, Sefton and St Helens Adult Remand Court today, Wednesday 30 August.

In a second incident on Tuesday 29 August, a man was seen wearing a balaclava on Princess Drive at around 2am.

After a short foot pursuit, the man was arrested in connection to a reported burglary that occurred on the same street.

Christie Hegarty, 21, of no fixed abode, was subsequently charged with burglary and possession of a controlled Class B drug. He has been remanded to appear at Wirral Adult Remand Court today, Wednesday 30 August.

Operation Castle is Merseyside Police’s dedicated burglary team, whose work is targeted at reducing burglaries and bringing offenders to justice.
