We are appealing for information following a reported armed robbery at a supermarket in Walton yesterday evening, Friday 8 December.
At around 6.30pm, it was reported that a male had threatened staff at Farmfoods, on Walton Road, with a suspected firearm and taken cash from a till.
The suspect is described as a white male who was wearing a grey hoodie, grey jogging bottoms, black gloves and a balaclava.
He fled the shop on foot and ran through McDonald’s car park towards Salop Street.
An investigation is underway to find the male and if you have any information, please get in touch.
Detective Inspector Leanne Toole said: “This was a shocking incident and although no one was injured, the staff have understandably been left shaken by the reckless actions of this individual.
“To threaten anyone in their place of work is completely unacceptable but to do it while in possession of a suspected firearm is appalling.
“We are taking this report extremely seriously and if you have any information, please let us know so we can find this man and remove him from our streets.
“This is a busy area of north Liverpool and there would have been other shoppers, pedestrians and motorists in the area at the time, so if you saw anything please get in touch.
“Similarly, if you live in the area or were driving past at the time, please review your CCTV or dashcam footage to see if you captured anything significant.”
DI Toole added: "We are relentless in our pursuit of those involved in gun crime and will do anything in our power to remove these individuals from our streets and put them behind bars.
“If you have any information about firearms in your community or know where guns are being stored then please let us know and we will take action – silence is not an option.”
If you have any information about this incident, you can call 101 or DM @MerPolCC on Twitter or ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook, quoting log 737 of 8th December. Alternatively, call anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
