We are appealing for information following an armed robbery in Wallasey on Tuesday 19 December.
At around 7.40pm, it was reported that a male entered The Local store, on Leasowe Road, and threatened a staff member with a suspected handgun.
The male then left the store on foot with a quantity of cash. No one was injured, but the staff member was left shaken by the incident.
CCTV enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing for anyone with information to come forward to help with our investigation.
Detective Inspector Andrew Schofield said: “We are appealing for anyone with information about this incident to please come forward as a matter of urgency.
“I understand that the community will be rightly concerned by this incident, but please be reassured that we are taking this extremely seriously and we are determined to find the person responsible.
“To threaten an innocent staff member in this manner is shocking. No-one should be subjected to this level of fear and intimidation while they try to earn an honest living.
“This shop is located on a busy road, so we are hoping that motorists who were driving in the Leasowe Road area at around the time of the incident may have captured something significant on dashcam footage.
“Similarly, if you live in the area please review your CCTV footage or if you have any information whatsoever, please let us know.
“Whether you come forward to us directly or anonymously via Crimestoppers, all information will be acted upon.”
If you have any information, please message ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook or call 101 with reference 23001294040.
