Road closures have been put in place in Liverpool city centre following a serious injury road traffic collision between a car and a pedestrian.
The incident happened at about 5.55pm when a blue Ford Focus car was in collision with the pedestrian on Canning Street near to the junction of Catharine Street.
The pedestrian, a 92-year-old lady, has sustained serious injuries and her condition is described as critical.
The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is assisting with the investigation.
Road closures have been put in place whilst the Roads Policing Unit carries out forensic examinations at the scene. The closures are at Canning Street and the junction of Hope Street; Catharine Street at the junction of Faulkner Street; Canning Street at the junction of Bedford Road South and Canning Street at the junction of Huskisson Street. Diversions have been put in place and we would like to thank motorists for their patience whilst the examinations of the scene are carried out.
