We are today, Monday 18th December, continuing to appeal for witnesses after a fatal road traffic collision in Liverpool.
At about 7.40pm on Friday 15th December a silver Vauxhall Corsa car was in collision with a female pedestrian on Acrefield Road in Woolton.
The pedestrian, a 91-year-old woman from the Woolton area, sustained serious injuries and was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the car, a 52-year-old man from Liverpool stopped at the scene and was later arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs.
He has been released under investigation whilst enquiries are continuing.
Sergeant Simon Duffy said: "This is truly a tragic incident and our thoughts and condolences remain with the woman's family.
"We are continuing to appeal for anyone who witnessed the collision or came to the assistance of the lady and provided first aid to come forward.
"We are also appealing to any motorists who may have been driving on Acrefield Road around this time and have a dash camera in their vehicle to contact us.
"I would be grateful if you could check your footage as soon as possible and contact our officers if you have captured something of significance.
"Footage or sightings of a 2010 plate silver Vauxhall Corsa, travelling from the Woolton Village direction would be of particular interest. I believe the driver was delivering food and I would ask anyone who received a takeaway delivery earlier that evening and noticed their driver in this car, to also make contact.
"If you witnessed this incident, captured it on dashcam or have any CCTV footage, please get in touch with our officers."
Anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have dashcam footage, is asked to contact the Roads Policing Team on 0151 777 5747, email [email protected] or DM @MerPolTraffic on Twitter quoting reference 23001276196.
