We are investigating following reports a teenager was stabbed in Liverpool yesterday afternoon, Tuesday 5th December.
The 16-year-old self-presented at hospital at 4pm with an injury to his groin consistent with a bladed weapon being used.
He is currently being treated for his injury which is not believed to be life threatening.
Detectives are investigating whether his injury is linked to witness reports that at around 3.45pm a male was seen being chased through Walton Hall Park by a group of males armed with bladed weapons.
CCTV and witness enquiries are currently being carried out in the local area.
Inspector Gillian Kearns said: “We are carrying out a number of lines of enquiry to establish what has taken place.
“The male self-presented at hospital with his injury but we are looking to establish if it is linked to witness reports of a male being chased in Walton Park yesterday.
“I would ask anyone who was in the area of Walton Hall Park, Blackthorne Road or the Loopline who saw or heard anything suspicious this afternoon to contact us.
“This type of behaviour is not acceptable and we know all to well the tragedies that occur when people carry or use knives.
“We need people to come forward and tell us what we know so that we can apprehend those responsible.”
Anyone with information is asked to DM @MerPolCC or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting log 580 of 5th December.
