A man has been arrested after a machete was recovered in Tranmere yesterday evening, Sunday 10 December.
At around 8.50pm we received a report that five men got out of a silver Mercedes car and broke into a house on Fairfield Road.
The family dog, a German Shepherd, ran to the door and was struck on the head. The intruders then made off.
Officers attended and Police Dog Yoko apprehended a man in possession of a machete. Yoko then recovered the machete which was hidden.
A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion being in possession of a bladed article in a public place and affray. He is still in police custody to be questioned.
CCTV and witness enquiries are being carried out, and we are appealing for anyone with information or witnessed the incident to come forward.
