A man who climbed onto a church roof in Liverpool city centre earlier today (Saturday 16 December) has been detained under the Mental Health Act.
We were called to Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Low Hill just after 11.25am to a report of concern for the man.
Police, North West Ambulance Service and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service attended, and partial closures were introduced on Low Hill and Prescot Street while emergency services dealt with the incident.
Just after 1.20pm, the man was brought back to the ground safely in a cherry picker.
We thank the public in the area for their patience while this incident was ongoing.
