Five people were arrested in connection with reports of a stabbing on Hawthorne Grove in Seacombe in the early hours of Saturday morning, 25 February.
Just after 2.20am we received a report that a 20-year-old man had sustained a serious stab wound. The man was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
An investigation is underway and house-to-house and CCTV enquiries are ongoing in the local area.
The five people arrested on suspicion of section 18 wounding were a 24-year-old man from Egremont, a 21-year-old woman from Seacombe, an 18-year-old woman from Seacombe, an 18-year-old from Poulton, and a 16-year-old male from Poulton.
They have all been released on bail pending further enquiries.
