Officers from Operation Pelican have arrested four people following a report of a burglary in Bootle yesterday (Monday 20 February).
In the early hours of the morning, it was reported that a home had been broken into on Cambridge Road and a red Fiat (see image below) had been stolen, as well as bank cards and a handbag.
At around 7.30pm later that same day, we received a report that a flat had been damaged in Bootle and this was linked to the earlier burglary.
There was a further report at around 8.30pm that a group of males in a Fiat had threatened another motorist on Park Road West and a vape was thrown out the window at the driver.
The same Fiat was later spotted by an officer in the Anfield area and with the support of the National Police Air Service (NPAS), the vehicle was followed onto Oregan Close, in Bootle, where it was abandoned.
Following a brief foot pursuit, all four males were detained by officers from Operation Pelican.
An 18-year-old man and 22-year-old man, both from Liverpool, have been arrested on suspicion of burglary.
An 18-year-old man from Liverpool has been arrested on suspicion of burglary, possession of a controlled Class B drug (cannabis) and criminal damage. He was also arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent, which is in connection to a previous incident.
A 17-year-old male from Liverpool has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and criminal damage.
All four remain in police custody.
Inspector of Community Policing Raymond Mavrakakis said: “This is another positive result for Operation Pelican. It's also an example of some brilliant police work to arrest all four males for a variety of offences.
“While we have made these four arrests, our enquiries continue into the reported incidents yesterday as we look to bring those responsible to justice.
"Key to this success is often the information from those people and communities most affected, so if you have any information please come forward.”
