Three arrested following robberies in Wavertree

Three teenage boys have been arrested following two robberies in Wavertree last week.

At around 1.50pm on Thursday 9 February we received a report of a robbery on Liscard Road. It was reported that two males approached a young man in the area and threatened him before they demanded his coat and cash. 

Shortly after this incident at around 4pm two other young men were approached by four suspects on Langton Road who said they had a knife and demanded their belongings. One of the victims handed over their phone but then managed to retrieve it back before he ran away.

CCTV and witness enquiries were carried out by officers in the area who have now arrested three boys aged 16 from Liverpool on suspicion of robbery. 

They have since been bailed with specific conditions.

Detective Inspector Katie Coote said: “I hope these arrests show that we will not stand by and allow people to harm and threaten the safety of others in our community.

"We understand the concern that such offences can cause and I want to assure our student community that we are continuing to have increased patrols in the area to provide more of a visible presence to help residents feel safer. There has been increased activity across the area following the incidents, and officers in uniform and plain clothes are patrolling key areas.

“If you have any information, CCTV or dashcam footage of these incidents please contact us. Although we have made three arrests any further information you have could be vital to our ongoing investigations into these incidents.”
