We have issued a CCTV image of a man who may have information following an assault on a bus in Old Swan earlier this month.
At around 10pm on Saturday 6 January, it was reported that two men had threatened a group of young males on the 10A bus.
Another male on the bus, who tried to intervene to stop the argument, was then assaulted by the two men and punched to the face. He sustained minor facial injuries.
The two suspects then got off the bus on Prescot Road and walked towards Broad Green Road.
Officers attended the scene and arrested a 57-year-old man from Prescot nearby on suspicion of assault and being drunk and disorderly in a public place. He has been released under investigation.
We believe the man pictured could have information to help our ongoing enquiries.
Detective Inspector Chris Carlin said: “This was a vicious assault on someone who was only trying to do the right thing by trying to stop these two men from threatening a group of young males.
“Thankfully our officers were able to make a swift arrest in connection to this incident, but our investigation is ongoing.
“We believe the man pictured in this image could have information to help our enquiries and if you recognise him, please get in touch.
“There were other passengers on the bus who would have witnessed this assault. Please come forward if you saw the incident and have any information.”
