Detectives have issued CCTV images of a man who could assist with their enquiries following an incident in Rainhill involving three vehicles yesterday evening, Wednesday 18 January.
Just after 9pm a white transit van and a light coloured Range Rover Evoque were seen speeding along Warrington Road in the wrong lane heading towards Rainhill Stoops roundabout.
It was then reported that a black Vauxhall Zafira was seen in a collision with the white transit van on the M62 slip road and Warrington Road.
A man dressed in an orange high visibility jacket was then seen making off from the area.
A short time later the white transit van and the Range Ranger Evoque were seen parked next to each other at the Rainhill Stoops roundabout, blocking lanes to the A57 Warrington Road and St Helens Linkway.
It was then reported that two people took the man dressed in the orange jacket to the Range Rover Evoque.
Two men, a 22-year-old and a 30-year-old, have been arrested on suspicion of kidnap and conspiring to kidnap, and remain in custody for questioning.
The Range Rover Evoque has been seized and will be forensically examined.
Detectives have released CCTV images to locate the man dressed in the orange high visibility jacket they believe could assist with their investigation and to ensure he is safe and well.
Detective Inspector Barbara Hebden said: “We are in the very early stages of the investigation to understand the circumstances of what took place, including CCTV and witness enquiries.
"I would like to appeal to the man featured in the CCTV images to please get in touch to assist us with our enquiries and to ensure he is safe and well.
“This incident took place at a time where other motorists have been in the area and may have witnessed something, so I would also urge people who were in the vicinity to check if their dashcam footage captured something suspicious.”
