Detectives appeal for information following aggravated burglary in Stockbridge Village

Detectives in Knowsley are appealing for information following an aggravated burglary in Stockbridge Village yesterday morning, Thursday 30 January.

At around 7am, a man gained entry to a property on Spruce Grove and assaulted the elderly female occupant, a woman in her 80s, causing injuries to her arms, elbow and nose and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The suspect stole a quantity of cash before leaving the address. He is described as white, around 5ft 8in in height and dressed all in black.

An extensive investigation is underway, including forensic and house-to-house enquiries, and we are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Inspector Jimmy Rotheram said: “This was an appalling attack on an elderly lady living alone, which left her injured and extremely distressed. Our officers are supporting the victim and her family as enquiries continue.

“I’m sure the local community will share our utter revulsion that such an incident has happened. We also understand that such a crime will cause concern for those living in the area, and I’d like to assure those people that our investigation is a high priority, which is why this appeal is so important.

“We’re particularly keen to speak to anyone who lives in the vicinity of Spruce Grove and saw anyone acting suspiciously at around 7am yesterday. We’d be grateful if those living in the area check CCTV, dashcam or doorbell devices, as they may hold vital evidence to find the person responsible and remove him from the community. Incidents such as this are mercifully rare, and we’re determined to do all we can to find this offender.”
