We have arrested and charged a Beechwood man following an attempted robbery in Beechwood, Wirral on Sunday 8 January.
At around 5.30pm, a man reportedly entered Premier Convenience Store on Fender Way in possession of a weapon and made demands for cash before leaving empty handed.
Enquiries led to a man being detained a short time later, and arrested.
Michael James Edwards, 54, of Bidston Green Drive has now been charged with attempted robbery; possessing an offensive weapons; and refusing to provide a drug test sample.
Edwards will appear at South Sefton Magistrates Court today, Tuesday 10 January.
