Man charged with drug offences in Wirral

A man has been charged with drug offences in Wirral.

Officers working on an investigation within Operation Toxic - Merseyside Police’s initiative to infiltrate County Lines drug dealings - stopped a vehicle in the West Kirby area on Thursday 5th January and arrested a man.

Aaron McMahon, aged 32 of Atherton Street, Wallasey has been charged with two counts of being concerned in the supply of a controlled drugs (Heroin and Crack Cocaine).

He was also charged with bail offences and was wanted on a separate warrant.

McMahon was remanded into custody and appeared at Wirral Magistrates Court today, Friday 6 January.

He has been remanded into custody until Friday 3th February and will next appear at Liverpool Crown Court.

This arrest forms part of our ongoing work in Wirral in disrupt criminality and protect those living in the area.

Elsewhere over the past few days, we have carried out mobile and foot patrols in areas of Beechwood, Noctorum, Woodchurch, Birkenhead town centre and Rock Ferry to provide reassurance to communities.

This also involved representatives from Merseyside Fire and Rescue, Wirral Council, housing associations and the MP’s office. 

Elsewhere, officers seized two imitation firearms on Friday 6 January after two males were stopped on Dock Road, in Birkenhead.

Chief Inspector Tom Welch of Wirral Community Policing said: “This forms part of our work to provide reassurance to communities in Wirral. Officers have also taken two imitation firearms off the streets, which is another positive result for our ongoing campaign.

“Serious and organised crime has no place in our communities and our officers will continue to disrupt these groups.

“We also rely on information provided by members of the public, so if you have any concerns about anti-social behaviour or criminality in your area, please contact Merseyside Police or speak with our officers who are out on patrol in Wirral.

“We appreciate that people may have concerns when reporting crime, so please bear in mind that you can always speak anonymously to Crimestoppers if this makes you feel more comfortable.”
