Man sentenced to four years in prison for string of burglaries in Wirral and Liverpool

We are welcoming the sentencing of a man for a string of commercial and residential burglaries across Wirral and Liverpool city centre.

Callum Boscoe, 25, of no fixed abode, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court today (Friday 6 January) and was sentenced to four years in prison.

Boscoe had been charged with more than 30 offences, including burglaries, attempted burglaries and thefts.

In August and September last year, he carried out a number of burglaries and thefts, including at Kelly’s Discount Booze, in Birkenhead; PSV Food and Wine, in Tranmere; Queen’s Hotel, in Birkenhead; Sheridan’s Butchers, in Birkenhead; Queen Avenue, in Liverpool; Queen’s Wine Bar, in Liverpool and Moose Coffee, in Liverpool.

Detective Constable Andy Uren said: “It is pleasing that this individual has been brought to justice. His actions would have caused distress and harm to many local business owners in Wirral and Liverpool.  

“Business burglaries such as these are not victimless crimes – they have a huge impact on the hardworking people who are just trying to earn a living in the heart of our communities.

“Key to these successes can often be information from those communities targeted, so I would continue to ask people to report anything suspicious, and come forward with any information you may have seen or heard.

"Many burglaries are still preventable as offenders are often opportunistic. Lock your front and back door even when you are in, set your burglar alarm when you go out or go to be and consider getting CCTV.”
