Detectives investigating a house fire in Old Swan, in September 2022 have today, Thursday 26th January, arrested three men on suspicion of manslaughter and conspiracy to commit arson with intent to endanger life.
Officers were called following reports of a fire at a house on Dorien Road at 3.20am on 1st September.
One of the occupants, 76 year-old George Redmond, was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation and other injuries. He sadly passed away on 16th September.
The three arrested – a 46-year-old man, originally from the Leigh area of Greater Manchester, a 36-year-old man from Warrington, and a 26-year-old man from St Helens, have also been arrested on suspicion of Class A drugs offences.
All three are currently in custody where they will be questioned by detectives.
