Three arrested on suspicion of manslaughter following fire at house in Old Swan

Detectives investigating a house fire in Old Swan, in September 2022 have today, Thursday 26^th January, arrested three men on suspicion of manslaughter and conspiracy to commit arson with intent to endanger life.

Officers were called following reports of a fire at a house on Dorien Road at 3.20am on 1^st September.

One of the occupants, 76 year-old George Redmond, was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation and other injuries. He sadly passed away on 16^th September.

The three arrested – a  46-year-old man, originally from the Leigh area of Greater Manchester, a 36-year-old man from Warrington, and a 26-year-old man from St Helens, have also been arrested on suspicion of Class A drugs offences.

All three are currently in custody where they will be questioned by detectives.
