Road closures have been put in place on the East Lancashire Road following a serious injury road traffic collision between a car and motorbike.
The incident happened at about 8.42pm when a Ford Focus car was in collision with a Honda motorbike at the junction of the East Lancashire Road and Coopers Lane, Knowsley.
The 39-year-old motorcyclist has sustained multiple injuries and has been taken to hospital where his condition is described as serious.
The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is assisting with the investigation.
The East Lancashire Road is closed between Moorgate and Coopers Lane whilst the Roads Policing team carry out examinations at the scene.
