We are appealing for information after a knifepoint robbery in Wallasey on Friday (7 July).

At about 6.10pm on Friday 7 July, a 15-year-old boy waiting to meet a friend in the grounds of Claremount Methodist Church was approached by two males, also around 15 years old.

One was wearing a black coat and the other wearing a grey coat and black trousers. Both were wearing black balaclavas.

The male in the grey coat then took a wooden-handled serrated knife, measuring around 10in, from his waistband. The knife had a small hole near the base of the handle.

The victim stepped away and the offenders left with the electric bike, which is described as a navy blue Eleglide electric pedal cycle.

While the victim was not physically harmed, he was left extremely shaken by the ordeal.

Detective Inspector Emma Kerrigan said: "This appalling incident left the boy incredibly frightened. We're doing all we can to identify those responsible, but your help could be vital.

"If you were in the area of the Methodist church on Friday evening, and saw youths matching the description of the offenders or saw anything suspicious, we want to hear from you.

“Likewise, if you have seen this electric bike since, let us know. And if you are a parent who recognises the description of the knife and believe it may have been taken without your knowledge on Friday, please do the right thing.”
“Any CCTV, dashcam, descriptions or other information may prove to be the key to our investigation.”

Det Insp Kerrigan added: "Carrying and threatening people with knives can have catastrophic consequences, and we will continue to use all our available powers to stop and search those we suspect are in possession of weapons which can cause fear and harm.”
