Appeal following bike robbery in Wirral

We are appealing for information following a report of a robbery in Bebington yesterday, Tuesday 1 August.

Just before 5.30pm it was reported that two 13-year-old boys were approached by two older males in Storeton Woods when they threatened one boy with a machete and then stole his mountain bike.

The two offenders then made off with his mountain bike.

No injuries were reported but the victim was shaken by the incident.

The offenders are described as 16-year-old white males who were wearing tracksuits believed to be Monitrex brand. They were riding a green and white electric bike. 

Detective Inspector David Sung said: “This was a frightening incident for the young victims to experience.

“I urge anyone who was in the vicinity at around 5pm yesterday and may have noticed something suspicious to please contact us so we can bring the offenders to justice.

“In addition, if you saw the two males matching the description, or may have captured them on your CCTV and dashcam footage in the area to please get in touch as any information no matter how small, could be vital to the investigation and get them brough to justice.”

Detective Inspector David Sung added: “We are absolutely committed to targeting those who bring misery to our communities and getting knives and offensive weapons off our streets.

“The Serious Violence Reduction Orders (SVROs) began in April this year to tackle serious violence and knife crime and violent offending. The order gives police officers the power to stop and search a person to look for knives or offensive weapons.

“Knives and other offensive weapons have no place on our streets. These orders give police the power to stop criminals in their tracks and protect communities from harm.”

Local policing officers are holding events across Merseyside for people to register their push bikes so that they can be more easily identified if it is found after being stolen.

The next event is on Friday 11th August from 1pm-3pm at Croft Retail Park in Bromborough.
