Detectives have issued CCTV images of a man who may have information that could assist enquiries following a report of a sexual assault in Liverpool City Centre.
At around 1am on Friday 23 June it was reported that a woman was approached by a man who sexually assaulted her on Hanover Street.
He then continued walking down Hanover Street.
Since the assault extensive CCTV and witness enquiries have been conducted in the area, and detectives have issued CCTV images of a man they wish to speak who could assist in their investigation.
Detective Inspector Michael Fletcher said: “This was a despicable assault in our city centre on a woman who was just returning home from a night out with friends.
“It is completely unacceptable to target anyone in this appalling manner, and we are working to find the man responsible and bring him to justice.
“I am appealing to the man shown in this CCTV footage, or anyone who recognises him to come forward as we believe they could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries.
“Similarly, if you saw the assault or the victim involved in this incident in the early hours of Friday night please contact police as soon as possible.
“Any information you hold could be crucial to our enquiries so If you recognise the man pictured or took any photos on your phone near where this happened on Hanover Street please let us know.”
