CCTV appeal following robbery at shop in New Ferry

We have issued CCTV images of a man who could have information following a reported robbery in New Ferry.

At around 9am on Tuesday 18 July, a man became abusive to staff at the Premier convenience store, on New Ferry Road, and tried to steal two bottles of cider.

When he was challenged by staff, he lifted up his top to show a knife tucked into his waistband and threatened to use it.

He then left the shop without paying for the cider and walked in the direction of New Ferry precinct.

Our enquiries are ongoing into this incident and we are appealing for anyone with information to please get in touch.

Detective Inspector Anna Hackett said: “To carry a knife in our community and threaten to use it is appalling and will not be tolerated.

“Anyone who is working and trying to earn an honest living should not be threatened with such violence. We are determined to find the suspect and our investigation is ongoing.

“If you recognise the man pictured, please get in touch because we believe he can assist our enquiries.

“Whether you come forward to us directly or anonymously via Crimestoppers, all information will be acted upon.”
