We continue to appeal for information following a serious injury road traffic collision involving a car and a motorbike on the East Lancashire Road last night, Thursday 27 July.
At around 8.40pm, it was reported that a motorcycle travelling in the direction of Manchester was involved in a collision with a dark coloured Ford Focus at the junction of the East Lancashire Road and Coopers Lane, Knowsley.
A 39-year-old man who was driving the motorbike sustained multiple injuries and remains in hospital where his condition is described as critical.
The driver of the Ford Focus remained at the scene and is assisting us with enquiries.
We are appealing for any witnesses who may be able to assist in providing information to enable us to establish the full circumstances of this incident.
In particular, we want to speak with the driver of a vehicle who was travelling near the scene at the time of the incident, who may have witnessed the collision.
Sergeant Simon Duffy from the Matrix Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “I appeal to anyone who was travelling on the East Lancashire Road, in either direction approaching the Kirkby area who has a dashcam camera or CCTV in their vehicle, to contact our team.
“We believe a vehicle travelling just ahead of the motorcycle before the collision may have witnessed the incident. I would appeal to the occupants of that vehicle to make contact with us as they may have vital information.”
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information is asked to call our Matrix Serious Collision Investigation Unit on (0151) 777 5747, email [email protected], or DM @MerPolCC on Twitter quoting reference 23000683080
