Emergency services are currently in attendance in Kensington (Sunday, 23 July) following an underground fire on Onslow Road.
Firefighters from Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service spotted the fire at 2.23am this morning when they were on another call out and were able to quickly start work to isolate the cause of the fire.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service are still at the scene along with Cadent and Scottish Power who are working to assess the damage and rectify the situation. The fire has caused disruption to gas and electricity supplies to a number of properties in the area. It could take several hours for the issue to resumed.
Officers have been calling at addresses in the area to provide reassurance and to check if there are any vulnerable people who require assistance.
Road closures are currently in place in the area whilst works are carried out at Prescot Road and Onslow Road and diversions are in place, motorists are advised to avoid the area whilst the incident is being dealt with.
