A Liverpool man has been charged with drug supply offences cin connection with our ongoing investigation into the Encrochat encrypted messaging platform following his arrest yesterday morning, Wednesday 12 July.
Gary Cain, 44 years, formerly of Bold Street, Liverpool city centre, has been charged with being concerned in the supply of class A drugs (namely heroin and cocaine), and class B drugs (namely amphetamine and ketamine).
Cain was remanded into custody and is due to appear at Wirral Magistrates Court today, Thursday 13 July.
The charge forms part of the Merseyside Police response to Operation Venetic: a national investigation into the use of encrypted mobile devices, commonly referred to as Encrochat.
