A second boy, a 17 year old from the local area, has been arrested in connection with the incident in Huyton earlier this week.
On Monday 10 July, we received reports that a group of teenage boys on bikes had sprayed an unknown liquid towards children around the Huyton Village area.
One child was taken to hospital as a precaution with skin irritation and later released.
A bottle seized at the scene was tested by Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and confirmed to be soap and water.
A further bottle was recovered on Tuesday 11 July, which we also believe to be a household cleaning solution.
Yesterday, Thursday 13 July, a 17-year-old boy from Huyton was arrested on suspicion of Section 47 assault, two counts of affray and handling stolen goods. He has been conditionally bailed.
The investigation continues.
