We have issued an image of a man who may have information that could assist enquiries following an assault outside a venue in Liverpool city centre.
It was reported on Sunday 30 April that a man was approached by four males inside The Blossom Tree, on Myrtle Street, and they were being aggressive and pushing him.
A short time later, at around 2.50am, the man was stood outside when one of the males punched him on the back of his head.
The victim fell to the ground and he was further assaulted by the group of males, causing injuries to his head, arm, knee and elbow.
The victim was able to go home, but later self-presented at hospital for treatment to his injuries. He has since been released from hospital.
Since the assault, extensive CCTV and witness enquiries have been conducted in the area and we have now issued an image of a man we wish to speak to who could assist in the investigation.
Detective Inspector Katie Coote said: “This was an unprovoked attack in our city centre that has left a man requiring hospital treatment to various injuries.
“Everyone should be able go out and feel safe in our city without the fear of being attacked and we are working to find those responsible and bring them to justice.
“I am appealing to the man shown in this image, or anyone who recognises him, to come forward as we believe he could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries.
“Similarly, if you saw the assault or the victim involved in this incident, please contact police as soon as possible.
“If you have any photos on your mobile of the incident or CCTV footage from the night of Sunday 30 April then do let us know as any information you hold could support our enquiries.”
