A teenage boy has been arrested following a report of two men being seriously assaulted in the early hours of this morning, Thursday 15 June, in Liverpool city centre.
At around midnight officers were patrolling Queens Square Bus Station when a male claimed he had been involved in altercation with another a man in St Johns Gardens.
Officers searched the area and found a man in his 30s with a serious eye injury. He was taken to hospital for treatment.
At around 12:50am it was further reported that a man in his 30s had taken himself to hospital with serious facial injuries following a report that he was attacked by another male.
A 17-year-old male from St Helens has been arrested on suspicion of two counts of assault. He is still in police custody to be questioned.
The investigation is still in early stages with CCTV and witness enquires being carried out in the area.
Detective Inspector Alan Nuttall said: “Both of these incidences were very nasty attacks as both victims sustained serious injuries and are receiving hospital treatment where they still remain.
“Although an arrest has been made, I would urge anyone who was in the vicinity at around midnight and thereafter who witnessed both attacks to please contact us – as you may have vital information that could help with our enquiries.”
