We are today, Friday 16th June, continuing to appeal for witnesses following a serious assault in Moreton last night, Thursday 15th June.
Detectives believe an altercation took place between the female occupants of two cars close to the junction of Gautby Road and Hoylake Road in Birkenhead at around 5.45pm – 6.15pm. The occupants of the cars then returned to their vehicles.
A short time later, at around 6.20pm, a second altercation took place on a car park close to Heron Foods and the Coach and Horses pub on Hoylake Road.
During the second incident 44-year-old man was involved in an altercation with a male during which he was assaulted with a bladed weapon, suffering lacerations to his arm. He was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
A 35-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm. She remains in custody.
Enquiries are ongoing to trace the male.
Detective Chief Inspector Matt Caton said: "An investigation is currently underway as we seek to establish what has taken place and we are carrying out a number of lines of enquiry including speaking to witnesses and examining CCTV footage.
“We know that the area around Gautby Road and Hoylake Road would have been busy last night and we believe there were a number of people who may have captured either of the incidents on their mobile phones. I would ask those people to come forward and share that footage with us to assist with our enquiries.
“I would also ask that anyone who was in that area who has a dashcam checks their footage to see if they captured anything significant as it could be vital to our investigation.”
