A man from Sefton has been arrested and charged with drug offences following a County Lines investigation by Merseyside’s Operation Toxic team.
Michael King, aged 29, of Litherland Road in Bootle, was arrested yesterday by Matrix officers (Tuesday 13 June) following an investigation in to a County Lines drugs operation in the Bootle and Seaforth areas.
King has since been charged with being concerned in the supply of heroin and crack cocaine, possession with intent to supply a controlled Class A drug (heroin and crack cocaine) and driving whilst disqualified.
He was remanded in custody and will appear at Wirral Magistrate’s Court today (Wednesday 14 June).
Operation Toxic is part of Merseyside’s Project Medusa. The team provides the daily force response to County Lines and works alongside partners and other forces from across the UK to dismantle and disrupt criminal gangs.
Since 2019, Project Medusa officers have closed 842 lines, arrested more than 2,200 people for offences including drug supply, firearms and money laundering and identified 1,186 children and vulnerable adults who have been referred to safeguarding services.
Detective Sergeant Gerard Farley from Merseyside Police said: “This arrest follows an investigation in to a County Lines drug operation in Bootle and Seaforth. We remain committed to disrupting County Lines activity and will use all available resources to us to rid our communities of drugs and gangs.
“Our work to remove these people from our streets and bring them to justice will continue, and we really value information from the public to help target our activities. I would ask anyone who has information or concerns about this kind of activity to come forward so action can be taken.”
