Man jailed for over 5 years and issued Serious Violence Reduction Order in Liverpool

A man has been jailed for over 5 years after police uncovered heroin, crack cocaine, two mobile phones and a knife in Walton.

 

Korben Bell, aged 21 of Rice Lane in Liverpool was sentenced to over five years at Liverpool Crown Court for five counts of drug offences and posession of a knife today (Thursday 13 July).

 

Bell was also issued with a two-year serious violence reduction order (SVRO) for the possession of an offensive weapon - a civil order made in respect of an offender who is convicted of an offence involving a bladed article or offensive weapon. This means that once Bell is released police will have the power to stop and search him in a public to check whether he has a dangerous weapon. 

 

On Wednesday 14 June 2023 Bell was spotted by officers as he left his house on Rice Lane. When Bell became aware of the officers he ran from his address but was stopped by police who picked up a 6 inch blue metal lockable knife that he discarded on the street. 

 

Bell was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A Drugs and possession of an offensive weapon. He was later charged on the next day on Thursday 15 June.

 

Officer then searched his address and found cash, snap bags of cannabis, phones and individual deals of heroin and crack cocaine that were hidden inside a shoe box in his bedroom.

 

Bell pleaded guilty to the drugs offences, possession of an offensive weapon and possession of criminal property in court.

 

Detective Inspector Gary Stratton said: “Our officers bravely stopped and arrested Bell who was storing dangerous drugs in his own home and carrying a knife that could have gravely injured others in the community. 

 

“Dealing drugs and carrying such dangerous weapons can result in devastating consequences for those involved and thankfully Bell can no longer continue to carry out such offences on our streets. 

 

“Bell’s jail term shows we are committed in stopping those who try to profit from the sale of illegal drugs. I would urge anyone who has information about criminality of this type to contact us so we can continue to stop such criminals operating in your area.”
