We are appealing for information following a serious road traffic collision involving a bus and a pedestrian in St Helens last night, Thursday 30 March.
At around 11.05pm, emergency services were called to the junction of Corporation Street and Parr Street to reports of a bus having been in collision with a pedestrian.
An 18-year-old man suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition this morning.
The bus driver stopped at the scene and is assisting officers with their enquiries.
We are appealing for any witnesses, CCTV and dash camera footage which may assist the investigation.
Detective Sergeant Kurt Timpson from the Force’s Matrix Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “Our thoughts are very much with the man’s family as they wait for news on his condition, and they are being supported by specially trained Family Liaison Officers.
“Meanwhile, we have launched an investigation to understand the circumstances of what happened.
"I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time of this collision, who may have seen the incident or events leading up to the collision to please contact with us.
“In addition we appeal to anyone with dashcam, or who lives locally with CCTV or smart doorbell footage to get in touch. Every piece information is vitally important to our investigation to establish what happened.”
The road was closed for a number of hours but has since reopened.
Witnesses are asked to contact our Matrix Serious Collision Investigation Unit on (0151) 777 5747, email [email protected], or DM @MerPolCC on Twitter quoting reference 23000270689.
