We have arrested two men and seized cash, drugs and other items following a stop check in Southport yesterday, Tuesday 7 March.
At around 5.40pm, officers sighted a BMW being driven at high speeds and having no MOT. Patrols caused the car to stop on St Lukes Road, but it was driven off.
Following an area search, officers sighted the car down an alleyway on Lesley Road, and two men were detained, and searched, along with the vehicle.
Cash, suspected drugs and phones were seized.
A 20-year-old Birkdale man was arrested on suspicion of Possession with intent to supply cocaine; Fail to stop; and driving with no insurance
A 20-year-old Southport man was arrested on suspicion of Possession with intent to supply cocaine; Acquire/use/possess criminal property; and driving with no insurance
Both men remain in custody for questioning.
Detective Inspector Jay Halpin said: "This tenacious police work has prevented these harmful drugs finding their way into the community, and both men will now be questioned.
“We will respond to all information about serious and organised crime, so come forward and let us do the rest."
