We are appealing for information after a woman was attacked by two dogs in St Helens on Monday 15 May.
At around 11pm, we received a report that a woman in her 20s had been walking on Hazelfield Court when she was attacked by two dogs and sustained serious injuries to her arms.
The victim was taken to hospital where she remains in a stable condition.
Both dogs have been detained by police and our enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of this incident. We are yet to determine the breed of the dogs.
Detective Inspector Barbara Hebden said: “This incident has left a woman with significant injuries to her arms and it would have been an extremely painful and traumatic experience.
“Residents who live on the street attempted to help the victim during the attack and I thank them for their brave actions.
“Following enquiries we have been able to locate the dogs and they have been detained for the safety of the community.
“We are now appealing for anyone who has information to come forward.
“We have a dedicated team who review all cases concerning dangerous dogs, and are keen to speak to the witnesses who saw the incident.
"I want to emphasize that dog owners need to be mindful of their dogs' behaviours at all times, particularly when they are in the care of others. If owners or anyone who is looking after any dogs that are liable to be aggressive please make sure they are in a protected space and on a lead or muzzled if out in public.”
