A man has been jailed after stealing items from several cars in Knowsley.
Richard Hill, aged 31 of Sleaford Road in Huyton was sentenced to 1 year in prison at Liverpool Crown Court today (Thursday 4 May) following his arrest on Thursday 4 April.
He was convicted for three thefts that all took place in Huyton and a fraud offence.
After Hill’s arrest in April officers searched his address and uncovered numerous stolen items including an iPad, a laptop and debit cards.
Hill then pleaded guilty to fraud and several thefts from motor vehicles.
Speaking after the sentencing, Detective Inspector Kevin O'Rourke from Operation Castle, our ongoing burglary and theft campaign, said: “Thanks to residents in Huyton who gave us vital information about Hill and his whereabouts our officers were able to arrest and charge him for several theft offences.
“Residents who are targeted in theft often suffer stress, upset and inconvenience and I hope the victims of Hill are reassured by this result.
“If you see or capture on CCTV or dashcam anyone acting suspiciously close to vehicles where you are, let us know so we can continue to take positive and prompt action.
“There are also some good tips on our force website to ensure your vehicle isn’t an easy target. Always lock your doors as opportunists will try door handles of cars and homes. Fit a dashcam, alarm and good in-car security locks. Read more here.”
