We have arrested two men following a police pursuit of a suspected stolen car in Everton last night (Sunday 14 May).
At around 10.40pm, the driver of a Mercedes failed to stop for a marked police car and attempted to drive away in a dangerous manner.
During a brief pursuit, the vehicle exceeded the speed limit, drove on the wrong side of the road and undertook other cars on Leeds Street, Scotland Road and Hunter Street.
The Mercedes came to a halt when officers driving another marked police car carried out tactical contact to bring the pursuit to an end on Netherfield Road.
A 22-year-old man from Liverpool and a 29-year-old man from Maghull were both arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving, possessing a controlled Class B drug (cannabis), failing to stop for police, driving without a licence and driving without insurance. They remain in police custody.
