We are appealing for information following a report of a burglary at Tesco Express in Birkdale in the early hours of this morning, Friday 1 December.
A report was received just after 1.30am that the alarm was heard going off at Tesco Express on Liverpool Road and money was stolen from a cash register.
Officers checked the premises and no one was located inside the building.
An investigation is now underway along with forensic and CCTV enquiries.
Detective Chief Inspector Ben Dyer said: “Business thefts are not victimless crimes, and especially businesses which provide an important service for the community.
"I am appealing to anyone who has information which can help with our enquiries to please contact us so we can bring the offenders to justice.”
