Appeal for information ahead of sixth anniversary of the murder of Adam Ellison

Six years after the murder of a 29-year-old man in Prescot detectives are asking people to search their consciences and come forward with information to catch his killer.

Adam Ellison, 29, was assaulted in Market Place in the early hours of 4th November 2017 after becoming involved in an altercation with two males onboard a scrambler bike.

During the incident Adam was stabbed in the neck with an unknown weapon causing him to fall to the ground. He was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after 2am.

Numerous lines of enquiry have been carried out as part of an ongoing investigation and arrests have been made but, to date, nobody has been charged.

Tomorrow, Saturday 4th November, will be the sixth anniversary of his death and we are supporting Adam’s family in urging people to break their silence and help us to bring his killer to justice.

The charity Crimestoppers - which is independent of the police and guarantees anonymity - has offered a reward of up to £20,000 for information they exclusively receive that leads to a murder conviction.

Detective Inspector Dave Jones said: “I can’t begin to comprehend what Adam’s family have been through in the past six years. The special occasions and anniversaries that have gone by without him being there and with his family knowing that his killer still walks the street must be unbearable.

“We know over the years that people have come forward with intelligence that has assisted us with a number of lines of enquiry but we need people to come forward with evidence. We know that the answers lie within our communities and that people have chosen to stay quiet.

“To those people I would say please search your conscience. Tell us what you know and let us do the rest. Adam’s family don’t deserve to be left in limbo without ever getting any justice. If you don’t want to speak to the police then please get in touch with Crimestoppers and give your information totally anonymously.”

Gary Murray, North West Regional Manager at the charity Crimestoppers, said: “Family and friends of Adam have made it clear they are desperate for justice and that the wait just makes the pain and suffering so much worse. That is why, on the anniversary of Adam’s murder, our charity is offering this reward.

“Crimestoppers knows how hard it is for people to speak up when they know something about crime – especially if it’s about serious crime. Every day, our charity helps people overcome barriers that might otherwise keep them silent. We are not the police and you will stay completely anonymous. If there is something you know, have seen or heard about Adam’s murder, you could make a huge difference by passing it on to our charity."

The Crimestoppers appeal is part of a wider collaborative campaign with EVOLVE Liverpool-Knowsley launching on November 4, 2023, to help tackle serious and organised crime in the area.

Anyone with information which could assist the investigation into Adam's murder can DM @MerPolCC or call 101.

If you prefer not to speak to the police, you can stay anonymous and may be eligible for a reward by contacting Crimestoppers’ UK Contact Centre on freephone 0800 555 111 or by visiting crimestoppers-uk.org.

Please note: With Crimestoppers, computer IP addresses are never traced and no-one will ever know you contacted them. For telephone calls, there is no caller line display, no 1471 facility and calls have never been traced.
