A man has been arrested following an arson in Higher Bebington last week, Friday 24 November.

Just after midnight, emergency services were also called to a home on Rosalind Avenue where a petrol bomb was thrown at an address.

CCTV footage from the area showed that a man was potentially injured during the incident.

The incident occurred just after Merseyside Fire and Rescue (MFRS) and our officers were called to another home on Tower Hill at 10.40pm the night before to reports of a petrol bomb being thrown at the address and gutters being set on fire. The flames extinguished before the arrival of MFRS.

No injuries were caused and forensic and witness enquiries are ongoing.

Yesterday, Tuesday 28 November, a 25-year-old man from Tranmere was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger to life. He was questioned by officers at a police station in Merseyside and has now been bailed with conditions.

Chief Inspector Duncan Swan said: “Although an arrest has been made our officers are continuing to investigate this crime which put the lives of residents and families at risk in our community.

“This was a reckless offence and I hope this arrest shows how Merseyside Police pro-actively investigates anyone involved in serious organized crime. We want to send a clear message that we will not tolerate any actions that brings fear and harm to our communities.

“I would like to thank those who have already come forward with information and CCTV footage of these crimes which has fully supported our investigation.

“If you have any other information about these arsons or saw the offence take place and have not yet spoken to us please call Merseyside Police as soon as possible.”
