A man has been arrested following a stabbing in Old Swan yesterday evening, Thursday 16 November.
Just before 6.30pm we received a report of an altercation in the rear garden of property on St Oswalds Street.
Officers attended and located a man with stab wounds to his head and hands. The victim was taken to hospital for injuries that were not life threatening.
A 52-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He is still in police custody to be questioned.
Detective Inspector Chris Carlin said: “We are in the very early stages of investigating this incident and would appeal for anyone with information to come forward.
“Although a man has been arrested, we are still appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to please get in touch as it could vital to our enquiries.”
Detective Inspector Carlin added: “The use of knives and any weapons is reckless and will not be tolerated, and can have devastating consequences, not only for the victim and their family but also for the offenders involved.
“I would urge people to educate themselves and speak to their children and family members about the dangers of knife crime.
“We continue to seek out those involved in knife crime, enticing young and vulnerable people to carry weapons or involved in gangs.”
