We are appealing for information following a road traffic collision involving a police vehicle in St Helens yesterday evening, Sunday 26 November.
At around 9.30pm, emergency services were called to reports of a collision on North Road involving a black Volkswagen Passat and a marked police car which was responding to an emergency incident.
The driver of the Volkswagen was taken to hospital with serious injuries which are not life threatening, and the police officer sustained a serious injury to his arm.
An investigation into the collision is being carried out, and we are appealing for anyone who saw the collision on North Road, or who has dashcam footage, to contact police as soon as possible.
Anyone who witnessed the collision or captured anything on CCTV or dashcam is asked to contact police via @MerPolCC on Twitter (X) or ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook, with reference 23001193137.
This incident is being referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
