We have seized cash, drugs and crossbows and arrested a man during a day of action targeting serious and organised crime in Beechwood today (Thursday, 23 November 2023).

Officers from EVOLVE Wirral executed five warrants and seized around £8,000 cash, two stolen e-bikes, heroin, cannabis, crack cocaine and cocaine. Two crossbows and two air weapons were also seized.

As a result, a 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of heroin, crack cocaine, possession with intent to supply heroin and crack cocaine and possession of criminal property. He has been taken to a police station in Merseyside for questioning.

Officers also conducted land searches in the Beechwood estate area where they discovered two stolen motorbikes.

As part of the day of action Roads Policing officers carried out an operation where they stop checked a number of vehicles.

Officers accompanied by Youth Matters Wirral and Onward Homes also carried out a walkabout of the area to engage with residents.

Sergeant Michael McEvoy from EVOLVE Wirral disruption team said: “Drugs go hand in hand with serious violence and bring misery to the lives of so many.

“There is no place in our community for the toxic individuals who thrive in the misery they create by dealing drugs and we are committed to taking these people off our streets.

“We will work with the housing associations where these people may be tenants and seek to get them removed from the properties so the people who live nearby can do so without fear.

“We are also working with our partners to seek help for those who have a drug addiction as well as with young people to help prevent them from going down the wrong path.

“We want to be quite clear that there is no place in our community for those who are intent on engaging in serious crime and we ask that anyone with information about drug dealing or criminality contact us, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, so we can take action against them.”
