We are appealing for information after a van was set alight in Kensington in the early hours of this morning, Monday 23 October.
At around 12.35am it was reported that a Mercedes Sprinter van was set alight at gated unit on Marvin Street. An additional vehicle was also damaged from the blaze.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service extinguished the fire and no injuries were reported.
A joint investigation by Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and Merseyside Police is underway to establish the cause of the fire.
CCTV and witness enquiries are being carried out, and anyone with any information is asked to contact police.
Detective Inspector Neil Dillon said: “We are in the very early stages of the investigation and are carrying out enquiries to establish how the vehicles caught fire.
“I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity after midnight last night and saw someone acting suspicious to please contact us as this information could be vital to our inquiries.
“I would also ask if any motorists where in the area at that time to please check dashcam footage which may be captured how the fire was started or any suspects running away from the scene.”
Anyone in the area with information, CCTV or dashcam can contact us on 101 or Facebook ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ with reference 23001042674.
You can also contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
