CCTV appeal following robbery in Mossley Hill

Detectives continuing to appeal for information following an attempted robbery in Mossley Hill have issued a CCTV image of two men who may have information that could assist their enquiries .

At around 2.30pm on Thursday 14 September, it was reported that two men with face coverings and armed with an axe approached a security guard outside Barclays, on Allerton Road.

The two males attempted to open a cash box inside the driver's van but the victim managed to close the vehicle and stop the attack.

The two men left the scene in a black Audi car, where another male was waiting, which had been parked on Garthdale Road. The three males drove off along Allerton Road.

The driver was thankfully unharmed by the incident.

Since the attack detectives have conducted CCTV and witness enquiries to identify the suspects, and have now issued an image of two men they believe could assist with their investigation.

Detective Inspector Christopher Carlin said: “Our officers are continuing to investigate this frightening attack and are appealing to anyone who recognises these men to come forward and contact us as soon as possible

“To target and threaten someone with a weapon who was just doing their job in our community is dangerous and unacceptable behaviour and we are determined to find those responsible and bring them to justice.

“We think these men may have vital information to help our enquiries so if you know them, please come forward as soon as possible.

“Similarly, If you live or work in the area where this happened and have any CCTV or dashcam footage from the afternoon of Thursday 14 September that captured this incident please contact us so we can continue to investigate."
