Two men charged in connection with drug trafficking between Liverpool and Jersey

Two men have been charged following an investigation into the importation of drugs from Liverpool to Jersey.

Merseyside Police has been working closely with the Jersey Customs & Immigration Service (JCIS) to investigate suspected drug trafficking and county lines drug dealing.

Collaborative intelligence sharing and investigative work with JCIS has led to the arrest of Aaron Nursaw, 32, of Belmont Road, Anfield and Ibrahim Roslan, 34, of New Chester Road, Wirral.  

Nursaw was arrested by Project Medusa officers yesterday (Wednesday 18 October) in the Anfield area.

He was detained by officers and escorted back to Jersey by JCIS officers, where he was charged with the importation of cocaine from Liverpool to Jersey. He is due in court today (Thursday 19 October).

The same operation saw the arrest of Roslan on Monday 9 October in Liverpool.

Roslan was escorted back to Jersey by JCIS Officers, charged with the importation of £80,000 worth of cocaine in April and June 2022.

He appeared before Magistrate’s Court on Thursday 12 October, where he pled guilty and is due to be sentenced on Wednesday 6 March 2024.

Roslan was originally arrested in Jersey for these offences in July 2022 and he was later released pending further enquiries. He then re-located to the UK and was uncontactable by JCIS officers.

A subsequent search of Roslan’s Liverpool address resulted in the seizure of a large commercial quantity of MDMA (ecstasy).

Detective Sergeant Carl Lynch said: “Organised crime is hugely damaging to our communities, often involving intimidation, violence and creating fear and it is these criminals who run County Lines. 

“Criminals involved in organised crime have no thought for anyone other than themselves, and their criminal intent and greed.

“Project Medusa is our dedicated response to tackling county lines and our officers are committed to cutting these County Lines dead and taking those who operate them off our streets and working with partners to help vulnerable people who are being exploited by these gangs.”

Since 2019, Project Medusa officers have closed 1,101 county lines; arrested 2,421 people for various offences including drug supply, firearms offences and money laundering; and identified 1,256 vulnerable adults and children who have been referred to safeguarding services.
