Appeal following stabbing in Huyton

Detectives are appealing for information following a stabbing in Huyton yesterday evening, Tuesday 26 September.

At around 5.20pm, we received a report that a 17-year-old boy was at the junction of Tarbock Road and Logwood Road with his girlfriend when two males approached him and they began arguing.

It was further reported that an altercation broke out and the boy was stabbed in the back and shin.

Two suspects were reported to have left the scene.

The victim was taken to hospital for medical treatment which is not life threatening. 

An investigation is underway, and officers are carrying out enquiries.

Detective Inspector Peter Rexwinkel said: “Enquiries are in the very early stages to establish what has taken place.

“Tarbock Road would have been busy at the time with motorists going home from work, and I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at around 5pm onwards and saw what happened to please contact us.
 
“I would also ask people who were in the area to check dashcam, CCTV or doorbell footage to see if  they may have captured something which may be vital to the investigation.”

Detective Inspector Rexwinkel added: “Reducing knife crime in Merseyside is a priority all year round.

“Our officers are committed in removing anyone who stores, carries and uses weapons through proactive use of stop and search powers, open land searches, warrants and education work alongside partners.

“We continue to seek out those involved in knife crime, enticing young and vulnerable people to carry weapons or involved in gangs.”
