We are appealing for information after three males were injured during a serious assault in Clubmoor last night, Thursday 7 September.

At around 9.45pm, it was reported that a group of males were fighting on Townsend Lane.

Following this, a 16-year-old boy entered a store on the road and was then attacked by another male who was armed with a bladed weapon.

The attacker fled the area before another male, also aged 16, entered the store who had also been attacked by a bladed weapon.

Emergency services attended and both injured males were taken to hospital where they remain in a serious but stable condition.

Later that evening, a third 16-year-old male self-presented at hospital with injuries consistent with a bladed weapon being used. He received treatment before being discharged.

Three males, all aged 16, were arrested on suspicion of section 18 wounding and affray.

A police cordon remains in place on Townsend Lane this morning, Friday 8 September, as officers carry out CCTV and house-to-house enquiries.

Detective Inspector Michael Fletcher said: “This was clearly a serious incident that has resulted in three teenagers requiring hospital treatment for serious injuries.

“We are in the early stages of an investigation to establish what has taken place and officers remain in the area at this time.

“The community will understandably be concerned by this incident and let me reassure them that we are taking this extremely seriously.

“Our officers are committed in removing anyone who stores, carries and uses weapons through proactive use of stop and search powers, open land searches, warrants and education work alongside partners.

“We continue to seek out those involved in knife crime, enticing young and vulnerable people to carry weapons or involved in gangs.

“We also rely on information from the community, so if you witnessed or know anything about what happened last night on Townsend Lane, please let us know.

“I would ask people who were in the area to check dashcam or CCTV footage just in case they may have captured something which may be vital to the case.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, DM @MerPolCC or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 quoting reference 23000853995.
