A man and woman have been arrested after an assault in a Walton street left a man with a serious head injury this evening (Thursday 7 September).
Officers were called to Naseby Street just before 5.45pm where it was reported a man was involved in an altercation with two men and a woman.
It was reported the man, in his 50s, was then struck to the head with a baseball bat. He declined to be taken to hospital for treatment.
A 48-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault and taken into custody for questioning.
An investigation has been launched and officers are at the scene speaking to witnesses and assessing any CCTV opportunities.
Chief Inspector Paul Rannard said: “Clearly the use of a baseball bat as a weapon is totally unacceptable in our communities.
“We have made two swift arrests and continue to make enquiries at the scene following this incident, to establish exactly what has taken place.
“We would like to speak to anyone who might have seen any part of this incident, and anyone who might have been driving in the area of Naseby Street at the time who could’ve captured dashcam footage of those involved.”
